Ingo's Story

image.png

After finishing secondary school, Ingo now works at different places where he feels comfortable, such as at Stichting Capabel and Rotterdamsche Werken. There, he is given tasks that suit him, and people consider this pace and his strengths. These are places where he can be himself and where his efforts are appreciated.

Anyone who spends time with Ingo will notice that his greatest strength is his personality. He is caring, friendly, and observant. He senses the atmosphere and how others are doing with great accuracy, even if he cannot always express everything in words himself. He always tries to contribute something positive, no matter how small or big.

Ingo is someone who shows who he is through his actions, not through big words: a kind, caring young man with a warm heart.

Ingo is twenty years old. At birth, he had a stroke, which led to brain damage and severe epilepsy. That was a major and unexpected turn of events for him and his parents, but from the very beginning they looked for ways in which he could still find his own path, despite these limitations.

He started at a regular primary school, but it soon became clear that he needed more support. At the school with extra care, he found a place where he could develop better, and where he made friends who are still important to him now. Meanwhile, his parents remained actively involved in thinking about what he enjoyed and what suited him. Football? Then a G-team was arranged. Diving? Then they worked together with a diving school to see what was possible. Time and again, barriers were removed so that Ingo could continue to explore.
